He arrived in Van Dieman’s Land on Elizabeth 111 on  14. 2.1832
He departed from Australia on 8. 8.1837 with wife Sarah PYE and 2 chiildren, Ann and Abraham.
He died at sea 6. 4.1839 on the way back to England after embarking from Madras on the Mary Anne on 24. 1.1839.

We have just discovered what happened to his widow – she remarried John WILSON a soldier stationed at Chatham Barracks a/c to 1841 census.
We are now thinking that John Wilson could also be one of such name who was in the 4th. If so he returned to England as well. Which John WILSON he was – if he was either one – is yet to be discovered.

On 4.10.1849, Sarah PYE-RUMSEY-WILSON with John Wilson and the two children, Ann and Abraham arrived back in Melbourne as assisted migrants. I tip my hat to Sarah – 3 times across the world at the British Government’s expense – (she originally came to Australia in 1833 as a Bounty passenger) – the last on the Mahomed Shah something of a nightmare as the masts were “carried away” while at sea. Many crew died and the passengers made temporary repairs to get them here.

John WILSON died in September 1850 aged 43 or 45 and Sarah PYE married again some 7 months later so she became PYE-RUMSEY-WILSON-CROKER
