    History & Achievements :
    Captain John Piper was known as "The Prince of Australia"
    1793: Duty on Norfolk Island - received 110 acres at Parramatta.
    1795: Promoted Lieutenant back to mainland.
    1800: Local rank of Captain.
    1801: Acted as second to John Macarthur in a duel with Colonel Paterson.
    1802: Courtmartial - aquitted.
    1804: Acting commandant of Norfolk Island.
    1806: Promoted full rank of Captain.
    1811: To England, resigned from Army.
    1813: Appointed Naval Officer in Sydney.
    1814: arrived back in Sydney Bought Vaucluse House. Gave 700 acres at Neutral Bay to Daughter.
    1816: Granted 190 acres Eliza Point (Point Piper) built Henrietta Villa.
    1819: Macquarie appointed him a Magistrate
    1825: Chairman of directors Bank NSW. Sat on committee Aust.Agri.Co. Presiden Scots Church committee.
    He owned much property. Point Piper,475 acres Vaucluse, 1130 at Woollahra and Rose Bay,295
    Petersham, resumed 700 acres Neutral Bay, 80 Botany Bay,2000 Bathurst, 300 Tasmania plus various
    Smaller farms,1 George St.Sydney.
    1827: Suspended from duties, most properties sold to pay his debts. Family moved to "Alloway Bank" Bathurst - cheese,cattle and later sheep.
    1838: Mortgaged property, impoverished by depression property sold.
    1845: Friends re-established family on 500 acres "Westbourne" tied up for Mrs.Piper & Children.
    1851: Died.
