- Richard Nicholas enlisted in the
Royal marines as part of the 35th Portsmouth Company. He
served as
- part of the convict guard on board
the ship "Alexander" prior
to its departure from England. Following his arrival he
served as part of Captain James Meredith & Captain
John Shea's Company. On the 4th of May 1790 he was sent
to Norfolk Island via the ship "
Supply" and discharged
eventually on the 26th of January 1792. He was granted 60
acres at Drummond's Run. and became a local constable in
the area. He left Norfolk Island in 1794 to enlist in the
Royal New South Wales Regiment. Discharged from the Corps
on October the 10th 1799 and was granted 25 acres at
Mulgrave Park. Disappeared from records shortly after.
- It is not know whether any of his
family settled or if he had any family in Australia.
