 He was court Marshaled on 26 July 1847, found guilty of striking an officer and sentenced to be transported for the term of his natural life.  He served about 18 months of that sentence, about 6 months in Darlinghurst and about 12 months at Cockatoo Island.  He petitioned the Governor for a mitigation of sentence on 31 January 1849 and was released some time in 1849.  He went on to marry (29 November 1855) and father seven children before dying on 20 January 1877.
