Achievements :
- Samuel Mottram who arrived in the
Swan River colony in 1840 aboard the Runnymede.
Samuel spent 2 years in Van Dieman's Land arriving there
in 1938 and records show he had his wife Catherine
and daughter Margaret . He
was discharged from the 51st in 1847 in Western Australia
because of 'Rheumatic affection of the left knee.
He stayed in Western Australia and raised a family of 7
children. In 1860 he moved to Victoria and his wife
Catherine and some of his children moved over in 1862.
His private N0. was 585. Muster
Rolls which states that he was attested into the 90th
ft in 1826, his age and birth place and the countries
that he served in. He transferred to the 51st on 31st
Dec. 1830. Samuel travelled to Victoria and settled
in the Maryborough area in 1860 and Catherine with some
of her children joined him in 1862.
