History
& Achievements :
- James McManus enlisted as a member of the 59th
Portsmouth Company. He was stationed on board the ship
" Charlotte " and
it was on this ship he left England for Australia.
Following his arrival in Sydney he served as a member of
Watkin Tench's company, .. Leaving for Norfolk Island via
the ship"Atlantic "
he was granted lands. Like many others leaving Norfolk
Island he enlisted in the Royal New South Wales Regiment
. He recieved a grant of 65 acres at Mulgrave Park with
his wife Jane recieving a further 160 acres.
