    History & Achievements :

Thomas died in 1898 near Orange NSW and The Western Advocate (Orange 21 may 1898) writes

Quote “An old identity Mr Thomas Masling one of the oldest residents died on Sunday last at the ripe age of 81. He was amongst the last remaining of our border police. They were picked men from the Imperial Army and were disbanded in 1850 when they were returned to the 11th Regiment to finish their time. He bought his discharge and diggings breaking out he chose a diggers life and had been a resident here for many years working to within a few days of his death. One son survives him and about 36 grand children. He was respected by all who knew him.” (1)
