& Achievements :
- Very little is known about Private Martin Wilson except the following
:In 1829 he was a constable in Sydney. During the
poisoning scandal of . Gilbert
SMITH
. he stated that the poisoning was carried out by friends
of one Captain Crotty of the 39th Regiment . This man was
the arch and sworn enemy of Gilbert. Wilson was bought
before a Magistrate and because of no foundation of the
comments they were dismissed. Wilson was later dismissed
as a constable for making the unfounded remarks.

.He was appointed undergaoler at Sydney

Martin's
death and burial are not yet confirmed but when his wife
died on 23 May 1861 she was residing at her son in law's
(James Brierley) residence. She was buried in Old
Devenshire Street Cemetery. Her remains were exhumed and
reburied at Bunnerong Sect WE W Plot 188 Cat D when the
railway line was being formed.
