History
& Achievements :
- Thomas Lucas enlisted as a member of the 23rd
Portsmouth Company. He was stationed on board the ship
" Scarborough"
and it was on this ship he left England for Australia.
Upon his arrival in Sydney he served as a member of
Captain John Shea's company, working as a glazier to
suppliment his pay.. Discharging from the marines he
enlisted in the Royal New South Wales Regiment . Leaving
for Norfolk Island via the ship"
Daedalus" he served on the
island till his discharge. Following discharge he
recieved a grant of 60 acres. He left the island with his
family in 1807 to settle in Tasmania. He held 100 acres
at Queensborough, 180 acres at Kingborough and 60 at
Lennox. Thomas and his family left Tasmania via the ship "
City of Edinborough" in 1808.
only to return at a later date.
