History
& Achievements :
- Marine Sergeant Isaac Knight enlisted as a member
of the 8th Portsmouth Company. He was stationed on board
the ship " Alexander" and it was on this ship
he left England for Australia. Prior to his service on
this ship he served as a marine on board the guardships "
Ganges" and the "Eagle"
. On board the "Eagle
"he was discharged as a prisoner. Following his
arrival in Sydney he spent some time with exploration
parties through Richmond Hill and the Hawksbury. He
returned to England on board the ship"
Atlantic" in 1792 ,returning
in March 1803 with his wife and one child on board the
ship "Glatton". He
recieved a grant of land for 100 acres at Bankstown .
Recieved grants for land of 100 acres at Georges's River
where he establised his home . The house was lost to
floods in January of 1809. Granted further land at Castle
hill of 100 acres and at Upper Minto of 100 acres,he died
at MacQuarie Grove
