- Samuel King enlisted in the Royal Marines as a
member of the 50th Portsmouth Company,
- . Samuel was stationed on board the " Sirius
" and on the 4th of May 1787 set sail for Australia.
He was on the ship "Golden Grove" that departed
Sydney to establish a settlement on Norfolk Island .Samuel
recieved a grant of 60 acres at Cascade Stream . In 1808
Samuel went to Tasmania on the ship "City of
Edinburgh" . He held 28 acres of land at New Norfolk
. It is beliveed he held this land until his death in
1849.
