    History & Achievements :

Pte 402 50th27.10yrs, 5'5", fresh complexion; Dark brown hair; Grey eyes; enlisted 19.7.58 Wolverhampton; Lock maker; born Horslefield Wolverhampton deserted at Sydney on 21.11.1866. Remarks - pockpitted.

He seemed to have disappeared, and I don't think he ever came back to the UK.  On your site you have listed Frederick Kimpton, (of the right age and enlisting in the 1st/50th Regt in Wolverhampton), as a deserter in 1866.
One of his sisters, Charlotte, was transported for theft in 1845 and later settled in Victoria, so perhaps her brother Frederick wanted to try to find her.  Interestingly, the physical description of Charlotte, recorded when she arrived in Tasmania, is almost identical to that of the Frederick Kimpton you have listed.
One of Charlotte's descendants still lives in Victoria
