- History &
Achievements :
- Henry Johnson born in Kent c 1813 and married
18th Feb 1833 in Norwich, Norfolk. He was a trumpeter
with the 7th Hussars at the time. 8th May 1843 he
transferred to the Grenadier Guards and discharged 30th
September 1846. I believe he then became bandmaster of
the 40th Regiment. In May 1856 he celebrated his tenth
anniversary as bandmaster to the 40th Regiment and it was
reported in the Melbourne papers. I believe he left the
regiment about the time they went to NZ. Post Office
Directories for 1863-1864 list him as a Professor of
Music living in Wellington Parade, East Melbourne. He
died 10 June 1895.
