    John Jones enlisted in the Royal Marines as a member of the 23rd Portsmount Company and was
    stationed on board the ship "Alexander" It was on this ship he arrived in Australia .
    John served as part of Captain James Meredith's company. He discharged from the marines and enlisted in the Royal New South Wales Regiment. Granted 25 acres at Petersham in September of 1795. He recieved many grants of land as follows 100 acres at Toongabbie, 80 acres at Evan, 30 acres at Prospect and 60 acres at Parramatta In 1828 he was recorded as being in the Sydney Benevolent Asylum. He disappears from records after this date .
