    Edward Jeffers was bc1801 at Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland and married 25 Aug 1825 to Mary Cecilia Thornton. Edward's reg. no. was 552 and he enlisted 13 Sep 1825. He was aged 19, height 5'7". The family arrived in W.A. on the "Sulphur", 6 Jun 1829. The 63rd Reg. was sent out as a convict ship to Tasmania and West Aust. where a detachment of 60 was posted to the Swan River settlement.  He was discharged in W.A. in 1834. The family settled in Perth and in 1852 the family moved to Victoria. Edward d 16 Apr 1879 and is buried at the Melbourne General cemetry. Is mentioned in the book, "Bicentennial Dictionary of Western Australia pre 1829-1888" vol ii D-J by Rica Erickson. Is also mentioned "Dictionary of W.A. 1829-1914 Free.
