served. There is more than a strong possibilty these men
eventually settled. We have included them as they
recieved a description etc,and it may be of help to their
descendants. Today ,we understand why these men deserted,
in some cases they were treated worse than the convicts

brown eyes; enlisted 21.10.1857, Worcester; labourer;
born St. George's Devon; deserted at Sydney on 11.1.1869.

22yrs, 5'6"; fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue
eyes; enlisted 24.11.1863, Fareham; labourer; born
Churchman Gloucester; deserted at Sydney on 11.11.1867.

5'10"; fresh complexion, dark brown hair, grey eyes;
enlisted 2.3.1858, Wolverhampton; labourer; born Market
Drayton Shropshire; deserted at Sydney on 14.12.1868.

eyes; enlisted 28.12.1857, Worcester; born Brierly Hill
Dudley; deserted at Adelaide on 21.11.1868. Remarks -
cupping marks on right side of chest.
