Men listed as deserting from the Regiment
These men have been
recorded as deserters from the Regiment in which they
served. There is more than a strong possibilty these men
eventually settled. We have included them as they
recieved a description etc,and it may be of help to their
descendants. Today ,we understand why these men deserted,
in some cases they were treated worse than the convicts
JONES, John 14th
29yrs, 5'4"; sallow complexion, dark brown hair,
dark eyes; basket maker; born Liverpool; deserted on 13.3.1867.
JONES, William Pte
14th 28yrs, 5'7"; fresh complexion, dark brown hair,
dark hazel eyes; Clerk; born North Wales; deserted at
Court Martial on 10.8.1868.
