Achievements :
- Obediah Ikin Snr arrived in Australia with his
wife Sarah and family of 4 children in 1790. He arrived
with
- the rank of Private. He attained the rank of
Corporal in 1791 and Sergeant in 1792. He served in
Sydney and on Norfolk Island. Obediah was granted lands
at Lane Cove Sydney,30 acres in 1794, a lease of land
south of Sydney also in 1794. 60 acre's at Bankstown in
1799, 0.5 of an acre at Parramatta in 1803, 160 acres at
Mulgrave Place in 1804 and in 1809 60acrea's at Evan, The
lands were sold of in 1843 As Obadiah was a sergeant in the
Loyal Sydney Volunteer Association in 1810 it is possible that he became a
soldier in 1784. However, he enlisted in the 11th Light Dragoon Guards on 14
August 1785 and was discharged on 27 March 1786
