History & Achievements :

Very little is known about Private John Henery eccept John Henery stayed in Australia and joined the
Mounted Police and settled in the Bathurst and Carcoar area.  Had seven children and we believe his 1st daughter Julia was born at the Barracks in Sydney.  
He did various guard duties on 1 August 1845 was on Norfolk Island as a guard.  April 1848 now a guard on Goat Island, and then Cockatoo Island.October 1849 was Orderly to Deputy Adj. General and received good conduct pay. He joined the Mounted Police and moved to the Bathurst/Carcoar/Blayney area.  He retired from the Mounted Police about 1880 after being injured falling from his horse.
