James William Gutteridge
At 18 joined army 96th regiment
of foot at 20 stationed in Launceston in late 1840
sent to India stayed five years promoted to Sergent
first wife died in child birth in 1854. 1855 stationed in Birmingham and
married Emma Abbott went to Spain and England with army returned to Tasmania
the fifth child Cherry born at sea near Cape of Good Hope. He was a
constable at Evansdale stationed at Breadalbane in the year 1864 - 1866 he
was a storekeeper and licensee of the Deddington Inn and Nile hotel b
