    History & Achievements :
Peter GRACE regimental number 2161 enlisted on the 11th October 1844 in the North Devonshire Regiment. He was discharged on the 31st May 1850 .He paid 18 pounds for this discharge. He seems to have served in Tasmania, Norfolk Island and Melbourne. On his daughter's baptism certificate from St. James Church of England in Melbourne he is noted as a private HM 11th Regiment. The date is 8th October 1848. She was always quoted as born in Launceston, Tasmania on the 5th September 1848. So I don't know if he was moved to Melbourne just a month after her birth or if he was already there and his wife came after the birth of her baby. On his daughter's marriage certificate 6th June 1869 at Staffordshire Reef in Victoria, his occupation is given as a miner.
