History
& Achievements :
Sergeant Laurance Fulham arrived in
Australia as part of the Royal Veteran Corps on the 16/5/1828. His previous
military service was 7 years with 9th Lancer Regiment . He
enlisted as a member of number 1 company of this Regiment .
Number 1 company was to remain in Sydney with Laurance serving there until his
discharge. I could add a lot to this, but suffice to
say he arrived on 24 Feb 1828 [not 16 May]. He arrived with No.1 Royal Veteran
Company. His previous service was 12 years with the 9th or Queen's Own Royal
Lancers. He served in NSW until his discharge (when the regiment was would up),
initially as paymaster to the Veterans in Sydney, then as superintendent of the
government sawing establishment at Pennant Hills.

The 36th (Herefordshire) Regiment of Foot did not serve
in Australia. It however is known as one of the
Penninsular Regiments, fighting under the Duke of
Wellington during the Peninsular Wars.
