    History & Achievements :
    Died in the Sydney suburb of Balmain in 1876 aged 80 years. His headstone at Rookwood cemetery states " Late ensign of HM 63rd Foot".
    As their first daughter Fanny Mary was born in Sydney on 2 October 1839.   At that time, Meredith is described as 'Gentleman'.   He must have left the military either just before or just after he arrived in Australia.  Later records describe him as 'Accountant, Government Printing Office'.
