- Thomas Dukes began his military life as a member
of the 14th Portsmouth Company Division of the Royal
- Marines. . Following his arrival Thomas was sent
via the "Golden Grove" to Norfolk Island on the
10th of October 1788 . Following his discharge he
recieved a grant of 60 acres at the Arthur's Vale
Queenborough Norfolk Island . On the 30th of March 1793
Thomas left Norfolk Island by the ship "
Chesterfiled " and on May the 6th of that year
enlisted in the Royal New South Wales Regiment .
Following his eventual discharge he became a Constable at
Bankstown
