Marine Private DOWLAN , William Dowlan (also Dowland), (.....1790)

William Dowlan enlisted in the Royal marines as part of the 6th Plymouth Company. He served as
part of the convict guard on board the ship "Scarborough " prior to its departure from England. Thomas sailed with the ship to Port Jackson and arrived as part of the first Fleet.
Following his arrival in Port Jackson, William served in Captain James Campbell's Company.
He worked as a carpenter and a sawyer. William died at Rose Hill on May 4th 1790 "of a fever "
