William Dowlan (also Dowland), (.....1790)
- William Dowlan enlisted in the
Royal marines as part of the 6th Plymouth Company. He
served as
- part of the convict guard on board
the ship "Scarborough " prior to its departure from
England. Thomas sailed with the ship to Port Jackson and
arrived as part of the first Fleet.
- Following his arrival in Port
Jackson, William served in Captain James Campbell's
Company.
- He worked as a carpenter and a
sawyer. William died at Rose Hill
on May 4th 1790 "of a fever "
