    History & Achievements :
1850: Occupation-Colours Sergeant, HM 51st Kings Own Light Infantry military Pensioner arrived per " Eliza", a convict transport arrived on 25 April 1850
He was one of a detachment of military pensioners who acted as guards in charge of the convicts With Patrick were his wife Elizabeth and five children (presumably Thomas William, Eliza, Mary and John. Patrick Doolan, like most of the other members of the detachment, were recorded as wanting to stay in VDL if the government would give him a portion of cleared land with a small cottage on it, to assist in supporting himself and his family.1851:  overseer Launceston Prison Barracks. Employed by the Convict Dept. 54 pounds and 15 shillings per year. 1855:  He was a javelin man at Launceston Penal Establishment. It seems Patrick and Elizabeth had three more children after arriving in VDL. They were Agnes, James and Michael

The Catholic Cemetery in Launceston was situated where the Patons Bowls Club now stands from had spouse etc buried there I think that was allowed until around 1920.  Not memory it ceased to take new burials early 1900's but if you sure when it was flattened - Carrvilla are supposed to have some records but nobody I have in any family tree is listed.  Cemetery as per map below between Connaught Cres & o Merrys Lane as far as I know
