& Achievements :
- William Dempsey served as a member of the Chatham
Company of the Royal Marines.
- Upon his arival in Port Jackson he served as part
of Captain James Meredith's Company. Following his
discharge he recieved a grant of 60 acres at Cascade
Stream Phillipsburg Norfolk Island ,followed by another
in 1796 of 60 acres ,he also purchased a block of land 15
acres . December 26th 1809 saw him leave via the ship
"Porpoise" for the Derwent where he farmed 21
acres at New Norfolk .
