Charles Adams was born in 1855_, probably Sydney as Pvt David Adams

had been discharged in November 1854. here is "no" documentary evidence e.g. birth or

baptism, but he is mentioned on his sister Rosie's birth

certificate under Previous Issue and on his mother's death

certificate.

History & Achievements :

 The Pay and Muster records state that on 8th May 1845 Pvt David Adam's embarked from Chatham for Norfolk Island, but after arriving in Sydney he remained there with the earlier arrival of 11th Regiment before going to Tasmania in last quarter of 1845. Most of his time in Tasmania was spent at Oatlands. David Hill's book "The Gold Rush" ( Random House 2010) and on page 166 he states that the 11th Regiment was marched to Sofala, NSW to quell an uprising of the diggers against the gold licensing changes. 11th (Devonshire) Regiment of Foot in Australia,
