- Peter Dargin enlisted in the Royal Marines as a
member of the 14th Portsmouth Company
- Peter was stationed on board the
"Alexander" and on the ship set sail for
Australia. Upon his arrival he was attached to Captain
James Campbell's Company. Transferred to Captain John
Shea's Company . On March the 12th 1788 he was punished
with 100 lashes for breach of trust. He eventually
discharged from the Marines and enlisted in the Royal New
South Wales Regiment. On December the 3rd 1789 he
recieved a grant of 25 acres at Lane Cove. During May of
1796 he was transferred to Norfolk Island. Discharging in
1806, he enlisted in the Royal Veteran's Corps and served
at Liverpool, eventually discharging from military life
in 1823
