History
& Achievements :
- Benjamin Cusley enlisted in the Royal Marines as
a member of the 57th Plymouth Company
- Benjamin was stationed on board the "
Friendship " and on the ship set sail for Australia.
Upon his arrival he was attached to Captain James
Meredith's Company. He used his skill as a Shingle Maker
to earn extra pay . Benjamin sailed on the 4th of March
1790 to Norfolk Island on the ship "Supply". He
eventually discharged from the Marines and left for
Sydney on board the ship " Atlantic "
- Following his return to Sydney Town in 1792, he
enlisted in the Royal New South Wales Regiment, recieved a
grant of 200 acres at Mulgrave Place which he named
Fulham park . Discharged in 1797, but r e-enlisted in the
Company of Captain Johnston's Company . Discharging in
1806, he enlisted in the Royal Veteran's Corps and served
at Windsor and Parramatta , eventually discharging from
military life in 1823,after serving 33 years as a member
of the British Army.
