Achievements :
- John Cridge defended the Crown and
attacked the stockade at Eureka in 1854. During 1855, 165 soldiers
deserted in Victoria. This was the highest desertion rate
recorded in Victoria. In comparison, 1857, with 96
deserting, was the next highest. These figures are not
accurate, as many were not reported to the police!! John
Cridge's desertion was. His record states:
