- Richard Clinch enlisted in the
Royal marines as part of the 55th Portsmouth Company. He
served as
- part of the convict guard on board the ship
prior to its departure from England. Thomas sailed with the ship to Port
Jackson and arrived 26 January 1788 as part of the first Fleet.
- Following his arrival in Port
Jackson, Richard Clinch served in Captain John Shea's
company. On the 4th of
- March 1790 Clinch was transferred
to Norfolk Island . He was reduced in rank to private on
in June of 1791 for the supplying of spirits to 2 female
convicts. Upon his return to
Sydney he enlisted in the Royal New South Wales Corps. He
eventually regained the rank of Sergeant. Clinch drowned
at Port Jackson on the 18th th of May 1799
