Marine Private Clayton, John

Arrival: Private - Royal Marines 29th (Portsmouth) Company  Ship: Scarborough 26 January 1788
10 March 1788 - John was court martialled and sentenced to 150 lashes for taking a convict woman into camp. He received the flogging two days later
4 March 1790 - Sent to Norfolk Island on board the 'Supply'
26 January 1791 - Injured his back when he fell from a tree onto a stump
December 1792 - Returned to England on board the 'Atlantic' C/D

Died Norfolk Island 2 July 1801 Buried 3 July 1801 still enlisted in the marines
