- My husband's great-grandfather was Private Samuel
Lawrence Choville and it is recorded that he served with
this Regiment and received the New Zealand medal which
was apparently awarded to members of the Regiment who
served in the New Zealand Wars 1863-1866.
We know that he was married in Sydney, Australia, in 1870
and settled here but we cannot find any record of whether
he came from New Zealand to Australia with the Regiment
or whether he went back to England and then came to
Australia.
