Marine Private Thomas
Bullmore (c.1764....1788)
- Thomas Bullmore enlisted in the
Royal marines as part of the 55th Portsmouth Company. He
served as
- part of the convict guard on board
the ship "Scarborough " prior to its departure from
England. Thomas sailed with the ship to Port Jackson and
arrived as part of the first Fleet. During the voyage he
was recorded as being in fights with fellow marines Luke
Haynes 11th of August 1787 and John Woods 20th of October
1787
- Following his arrival in Port
Jackson, Thomas Bullmore became involved in fights with James
- BAKER , He
was injured in this fight, but as he was what appears to
be a belligerent man wanted to continue the fight the
next day. This time his injury was serious enough to
warrant him being admitted to hospital. He died from his
injuries on the 11th of November 1788. All the men
involved recieved 200 lashes
- It is not known if he had any
family in Australia.
