- Richard George Buck was Private no.1407 joining
the 96th Regiment of Foot in 1839 in Norwich England,
being
discharged in Western Australia in 1849,after arriving
from South Australia. He went on expeditions into
the north west of and other areas of the West before
joining the W.A. Police force where
he stayed until retirement.
- Richard had a borther William in South Austarlia
he arrived on board the ship " Omega "on the
24th of August 1849. with his wife and 2 sons. Richard
visited South Austarlia of many occasions.. Richard joind
explotation parties with John Septimus Roe. He traveled
with this party to the south west of Western Australia,
outwards to the east of Esperance. To the Russell Ranges,
Roebuck Bay, and Tarbuckout of Wongan Hills.
- He joind the Police force and joind exploration
parties of Robert Austin, They traveled to Murchison,
searched for Gow Gow-Ean. the inland sea and discovered
Mount Magnet
