    History & Achievements :

    John Bowler served in India in the Madras presidency for 10 years, then served as Aide-de-camp on the
    staff of Sir Frederick Adams on the Mediterranean station. He served in the Ionian Islands, Ireland, England and Australia. In Australia from February to April 1837 he resided at Military Barracks Wynard Square;April to June 1837 at Windsor; and from June 1837 at Bathurst.After resigning from the Army he lived at Belle Vue in Vale Creek;Beaudesert near Carcoar; The Meadows, Canobolas (1841-1849); and Woodside near Bathurst at Wyagdon.
    (1849-1852). From 1852 he lived with his daughter
    Major John Bowler sailed from Spit head England with his family in November of 1836 on board the
    transport "Norfolk". The "Norfolk" arrived in Sydney on the 12th Of February 1837. John soon sold out his commission to become Police Magistrate in Carcoar New South Wales in 1839.
    John's son Henry George John Bowler joined the 80th Regiment in Sydney as an Ensign. Sailing with the
    80th to India,Henry was eventually promoted to Captain. While returning to England aboard the "Bucephaley" on sick leave Henry died at sea on the 30/6/1853
