- Marine Private Elias Bishop enlisted in the 1st
Marines 17th Portsmouth Company of the Royal Marines.
- Following his arrival in Port Jackson he was
attached to Watkin Tench's Company. Elias's name appears
on a protest letter with several others complaining of
the stoppage of the Grog allowance.
- On March the 4th 1790 he was assigned to Norfolk
Island where he remained until December of 1791. He
- took his discharge in Sydney. Following his
discharge he returned to Norfolk Island where he took up
a land grant of 60 acres at Morgan's Run Queenborough. In
June of 1793 he married Catherine Smith. Bishop
eventually left Norfolk Island on the
"Daedalus" on the 6th of November 1794. Elias
did not re-join the Royal New South Wales Regiment as
others had.
