    Thomas was married to Maria (nee Brown)  in Woolwich, Kent c. 1837.  Thomas was a "gunner and driver" with the Royal Artillery stationed in Woolwich Dockyard Barracks in 1841.  They had 2 sons Thomas jnr and George  were born before arriving in Tasmania.  Their daughter Jane was born in Launceston on 29.04.1853  they left Tasmania for Queensland in the mid 1860's.

    Thomas served at  George Town, Swansea, Brighton, the Clyde and the Huon (Birch's Bay) settlements. Some were overseers on public works, supervising convicts.
