    Wiltshire Regiment of Foot Soldier, Joseph Allen enlisted in the 1st battalion  62nd Wiltshire Regiment on the 3rd Sept 1807 at Pendennis in Cornwall.He was age 27yrs. His service took him to Sicily,Italy,Canada,America and the West Indies from 1807 to 1822. The 1st Battalion returned to England and two weeks later sent to Ireland.The regiment was stationed most of the time at Templemore. He was Discharged on the 26 May 1824 at Templemore. He re-enlisted for service in Dec 1825 as a Royal Veteran and left England for Aust  with his family. He was stationed at George Town until his discharge in Nov 1829.He is buried in George Town Cemetery.
