This Regiment began its military term in 1741 but was know only as the 57th . It was not until 1782 that the Regiment became known as a Regiment of the line.

Present.....Part of the Queen's Regiment
57th Regiment-c.1813. Service was varied: six months in the Peninsula, one year in North America, and
three years in France. In November 1818 the 57th moved to Ireland, and to Galway in August 1820. The Regiment replaced the 3rd. Regiment about 1826.
