Bastardy Bond William Watts

KNOW all Men by these Presents that We William Watts of Bottesford in the County of Leicester Blacksmith and William Bennett the younger of Bottesford aforesaid Cordwainer  are held and firmly Bound to William Ravell and Henry Spray Churchwardens of the Parish of Bottesford aforesaid and to William Daddesley and John Spreckley Overseers of the poor of the Parish of Bottesford aforesaid in the Penal Sum of Thirty Pounds of good and Lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid to the said William Ravell, Henry Spray, William Daddesley and John Spreckley or their certain Attorney Successors Executors, Administrators or Assigns to which payment well and truly to be made We Bind ourselves and each of us by himself  for the whole our and each of our Heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these Presents sealed with our Seals Dated the Twelfth Day of August in the Twentieth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and Soforth and in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand seven Hundred and Eighty.

Whereas Ann Scoffin of Bottesford aforesaid Singlewoman hath in and by her Voluntary Examination taken in Writing and upon Oath before The Reverend Henry Hough Clerk One of his Majesties Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Leicester declared that she was with Child, and that the said  Child is likely to be born a Bastard, and be chargeable to the said Parish of Bottesford and that the above bounden William Watts is the Father of the said Child Now the Condition of this Obligation is such that if the said William Watts

 

And William Bennet or either of them their or either of their his Heirs Executors or Administrators do and

shall for the space of seven years from the date of these Presents fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless as well the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Bottesford for the time being and also all and singular other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said Parish of Bottesford which now are or hereafter shall be for the time being and of and from all and all Manner of Costs Taxes Rates assessments  and charges whatsoever for by reason of the Birth Education and Maintenance of the said Child and of and from all Actions suits Troubles and other Charges and Demands whatsoever touching and Concerning the same and shall pay or cause to be paid the Sum of Twenty Shillings for the first Month after the delivery of the said Ann Scoffield and One Shilling and three Pence per week and every week until the said Child shall arrive at the age of Seven Years then this present Obligation to be void otherwise to be and remain in full force and Virtue
