KNOW
all Men by these Presents that We Thomas Guy of Normanton in the Parish of
Bottesford in the County of Leicester Yeoman and Mary Guy of Normanton
aforesaid Widow (Mother of the said Thomas Guy) are held and firmly bound
unto Thomas Hough and Francis Vincent Churchwardens and to John Riley and
John Duffin Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Bottesford aforesaid In Trust for the Parishioners of the said Parish in the
Sum of Forty Pounds of good and lawfull Money of
Great Britain to be paid to the said Thomas Hough, Francis Vincent, John
Riley, and John Duffin or their certain Attorney
Successors Executors, Administrators or Assigns For which payment well and
truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of us by himself and herself
Jointly and severally and our and each of our Heirs Executors and
Administrators and every one of them firmly by these Presents sealed with our
Seals Dated this Fifth Day of February in the Twenty seventh Year of the
Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great
Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the
Year of Our Lord One Thousand seven Hundred and Eighty seven.
The Condition of this Obligation is such That Whereas Mary Lamb of Bottesford
aforesaid Singlewoman hath in and by her Voluntary Examination taken in
Writing and upon Oath before The Reverend Henry Hough Clerk one of his
Majesties Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Leicester
declared that she is with Child, and that the said Child is likely to be born a Bastard, and
to be chargeable to the said Parish of Bottesford and that the above bounden
Thomas Guy is the Father of the said Child If therefore the said Thomas Guy
and Mary Guy or either of them their or either of their Heirs Executors or
Administrators do and shall for and during the Term of Seven Years Fully
and clearly indemnify and save harmless aswell from
the birth of the said Child pay or cause to be paid to the above named
Churchwardens And overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Bottesford and
their Successors for the time being and also all and singular other
Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said Parish of Bottesford which now are
or hereafter shall be for the time being and of and from all and all Manner
of Costs Taxes Rates assessments and
charges whatsoever for by reason of the Birth Education and Maintenance of
the said Child and of and from all Actions suits Troubles and other Charges
and Demands whatsoever touching or concerning the same the Sum of One Shilling and three Pence per week during
the said Term for and towards the Maintenance Education and bringing up of
the said Child And the further Sum of Twenty Shillings for and towards the Expences attending the Lying in of the said Mary Lamb That
then this present Obligation to be void otherwise to be and remain in full
force and Virtue
