Know all men by these presents that I Richard Speakman of Bottesford in the County of Leicester Blacksmith am held and firmly bound to John Ryley and John Stafford Churchwardens of the Parish and Parish Church of Bottesford aforesaid and John Jarvis and William Dawson Overseers of the poor of the said parish of Bottesford in the Sum of Fifty pounds of good and Lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid unto the said John Ryley John Stafford William John Jarvis and William Dawson or to their certain Attorney Successors Executors Administrators or to which payment to be well and faithfully made I bind myself my Heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents Sealed with my Seal Dated this Twenty seventh Day of October in the seventh Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith and soforth And in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and Sixty six.
Whereas Elizabeth Lee of Easthorpe in the parish of Bottesford aforesaid Singlewoman hath lately been delivered of a Female Bastard Child at Easthorpe in the said parish of Bottesford which is likely to become chargeable to the said parish of Bottesford and the above boundon Richard Speakman being the reputed Father thereof he hath agreed to give the said parish of Bottesford Security to Indemnify the said parish as hereafter followeth Now the Condition of the above written Obligation is such that if the above boundon Richard Speakman his Heirs Executors or Administrators do and shall from Time to Time and at all Times hereafter at his and their own proper Costs and Charges take Care of provide for ~~ Maintain Educate and bring up the said Bastard Child of which the said Elizabeth Lee is delivered And also if the said Richard Speakman his Heirs Executors or Administrators do and shall at his and their own proper Costs and Charges fully and Clearly Indemnify and save harmless as well as the above named John Ryley John Stafford John Jarvis and William Dawson and their Successors Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said parish of Bottesford their and every of theirs Executors and Administrators and also all the other parishioners and Inhabitants of the parish of Bottesford aforesaid of and from all manner of Costs Taxes Troubles Charges Damages and Demands whatsoever which they or any of them can shall or may lay out sustain Expend or be put unto for or by reason or on Account of the Birth Maintenance Education and bringing up of the said Female Bastard Child and of and from all Actions Suits Troubles Charges Claims Demands and Incumbrances whatsoever touching or Concerning the same Then this Obligation to be Void otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue.
