Moore-Jones Residence - Webster Groves, Missouri

Home of Mabel (Moore) & Samuel E. Jones

This photo was taken in October of 1992 by my mother, M. Jeanette Lane, and was the home of her Aunt Mabel where she often visited as a young girl with her Granny Mae. The home, as she recalled, was built about the time the "World's Fair" came to St. Louis in 1904. At the time it was built and until their death, Mabel and her family resided here.

Mabel was the daughter of Thomas A. Moore & Clarissa V. (Pilcher) and was born in St. Louis on 19 Jun 1877. She married Samuel E. Jones in 1901, a native of Decatur, Alabama who died in 1934. They were the parents of one son, Elliott.

After the death of Elliott, the home was inherited by his niece who sold it in its then deteriorated state. Fortunately the home was loving restored by a local family, who so kindly allowed us a re-visit of the home.
