Charles Frederick Bates (1853-1936)
CHARLES FREDERICK BATES
1853 - 1936
Born in Erie, Pennsylvania on 24 Nov 1853, Charles came to St. Louis in the latter part of the 1860s and was engaged in the tobacco manufacturing business. He was married to Ann "Nancy" Beale Maffitt, daughter of William and Julia A. (Chouteau) on 15 Jan 1889. They were the parents of William Maffitt Bates who married Frances (Garneau); Julia, wife of Arthur C. Hiemenz; and Nancy Maffit Bates, wife of W. Geoffrey Kimball.

Charles died on 05 Jul 1936 at the age of eighty-two years, seven months and eleven days. His wife preceded him in death in 1928.

 
 
Nancy Maffitt (1857-1958)

1857 - 1928
The youngest child of William Maffitt and Julia A. (Chouteau), Nancy was born on 03 Sep 1857. She married Charles F. Bates at the age of thirty-one and was the mother of three children: William M. Bates; Julia J. Bates; and Nancy Maffit Bates.

Nancy died on 03 Jul 1928 at the age of seventy years and ten months. Her husband died eight years later on 05 Jul 1936.

The daughter of Charles F. Bates and Nancy (Maffitt), Nancy was born on 15 Dec 1895. She was married to William Geoffrey Kimball, son of Charles E. and Maie (Bennett). They were the parents of Nancy, Maie, Julia, Geoffrey and Frederick. She died on 22 Jan 1969.

The son of Charles Edmund Kimball and Maie (Bennett), William Geoffrey Kimball was born 08 Sep 1888 in New York City. He married Nancy Bates, daughter of Charles F. and Ann "Nancy" Beale (Maffitt). they were the parents of Nancy, Maie, Julia, Geoffrey and Frederick Kimball. William died 05 Nov 1958.
 
 
 
Lucille Manette Chouteau (1883-1927)
LUCILLE MANETTE CHOUTEAU
1883 - 1927
Born in St. Louis on 30 Oct 1883, Lucille was the daughter of Pierre Chouteau and Lucille Manette (Chauvin). She married James Lucas Turner on 28 Dec 1909 and died on 01 Aug 1927 at the age of forty-three years, nine months and two days.

The grandson of Henri Smith Turner and son of James Lucas Turner and Bertha Gabriella Chouteau, James Lucas Turner was born 22 Oct 1877. He married Lucille Manette on 28 Dec 1909, she being the daughter of Pierre Chouteau and Lucille Manette (Chauvin) and was born in St. Louis on 30 Oct 1883 and died on 01 Aug 1927.
