EMILIE ANN
"MIMI" (CHOUTEAU) HENSHAW
1846-1894 |
| The eldest child of Charles P. Chouteau and Julia (Gratiot), and granddaughter
of Pierre who established the early
trading posts on the Mississippi, Emilie
was born in St. Louis on 01 Oct 1846. She
married John Marsh Henshaw, son of Ashbel
and Margaret (Marsh) on 05 Dec 1870 and
later resided in New Orleans. She died in
Pierremont on 22 Jan 1894 and John in
Louisiana on 17 Jan 1906. They were the
parents of: Charles Chouteau Henshaw who
was born 29 Sep 1872 and died unmarried
on 20 Jul 1933; Margaret Mary who was
born 02 Sep 1875 and died in 13 Mar 1877;
Ashbel Burnam born 13 Oct in 1878 and
died 28 Nov 1894 in Petersburg, Virginia;
Nevil Gratiot born 23 Apr 1880 and
married Julia (Plummer) in Petersburg,
Virginia on 05 Jun 1905; and Harold M.
Henshaw born 15 Jan 1884 in Louisiana and
died 13 Apr 1929 who was the husband of
Marjorie (Cade).
Note:
Marsh was a slave owner at Petite Anse
Island, and operated a salt mine and
sugar plantation. The family associated
with the Avery family were connected to
the McIllhenny company which began
manufacturing Tobasco sauce.

MARGARET MARY HENSHAW
1875-1877 |
| The only daughter of Emilie
Ann (Chouteau) and John Marsh Henshaw,
Margaret was born in Missouri on 02 Sep
1875 and is believed to have died in
Louisiana on 13 Mar 1877 at the age of
one year, six months, and eleven days. |

AHSBEL BURNAM HENSHAW
1876-1894 |
| Son of Emilie Ann (Chouteau)
and John Marsh Henshaw was born 12 Oct
1876. According to the Missouri death
records, he was born in St. Louis,
Missouri and died in Petersburg, Virginia
of epistaxis at the age of
sixteen years, one month and sixteen days
on 28 Nov 1894. |
