Founded by
Charles Deere and Alvah Mansur, they opened
their first manufacturing house in Kansas
City in 1869. In 1874 they opened the St.
Louis branch to "distribute John Deere
goods and a general line of agricultural
implements and vehicles in the southern
trade."
The St. Louis
branch was managed by Alvah Mansur, and very
successfully provided agricultural implements
to farmers. The company continued to conduct
busness under this name until 1889 when the
St. Louis members purchased the Moline
interests. The company then became known as
Mansur & Tebbetts Implement Company.
