Mud
and Long Cabin, Penn Avenue |
This old historic building is one of Pittsburgh's first homes.
It is located practically in the heart of East Liberty business
district, flanked by the more modern type of buildings. Although
built in the early part of the nineteenth century, it is in a
wonderful state of preservation. The "Mud and Log Cabin," as it
is known, gives an idea of what the pioneer settlers homes were
like in those days. The house is unoccupied at present. It is
now the property of Miss Margaret Forsythe, having been handed
down trough several generations. |

of Mt. Washington's many vantage points. In the foreground are
barges loaded with coal, being transported down the Monongahela
River, to one of Pittsburgh's many steel mills. In the center is
the giant United States Steel Building, which is surrounded by
many other skyscraper office buildings, hotels, stores and
manufacturing plants. |
