Excellent Resource!

Project members are submitting family Gedcom outlines (Family Trees), which are being uploaded to each members page.

More than half of the project members have this information listed on their individual project member page

This provides site visitors as well as project members, with information on ancestor, locale and time lines.

For those project members who have not submitted them to me yet, PLEASE remember this is a crucial step in proven research.

Comparing the Results

Below are the comparisons for project members, listed by kit number.

Results are provided within tables by the number (12 or 25) of markers each member tested for. Results for 37 markers are forthcoming.

Genetic distance and distance to most recent common ancestor can be found between any two project members by plotting across and down until you reach the connecting "box" for the two.

If you have any questions on how to read the charts, please contact me through the link provided to the "US Administrator" at the left.

The International Society of Genetic Genealogy Has Provided The "Y" results for a few famous and ancient individuals. Some of our project members have proven to have very similar results with two of those ancient individuals whose results have been provided by the ISOGG. The results for Niall are also provided on FTDna.

Due to the large amount of information and the tables, this page may be slow to load, depending on your connection. Thank you for your patience.

Colla Uais - Father of the Clans
A High King of Ireland, Colla seized Ulster and then took his followers to Scotland around 325AD. His descendants, Fergus, Loarn and Angus (sons of Erc) became the "founder" lines for the Scottish kingdom of Dalriada circa 465AD (Source article). Mark E. MacDonald, the National Historian for Clan Donald and Director of the DNA project, has deduced Colla's haplotype based on DNA results from many various Scottish clan DNA projects.

Niall of the Nine Hostages
Like Colla Uais, Niall Noigíallach, was a High King of Ireland, and the father of millions of descendants. He lived in the 5th century, and his estimated death date is 450/455 AD (Source). The Southern and Northern Uí Néill (meaning "descendants of Niall"; Uí pronounced 'Ee') dynasties produced the Irish High Kings for centuries and includes St. Columba, Niall's great-great grandson.

Since many of our project memers show STRONG results linking them with Celtic origins, I have included the information for Colla Uais and Niall with our results. Please bear in mind that the results mentioned above are NOT part of our project, nor do we have any claim to these reults. They are simply included as a matter of interest.

Gil Hurlbut, who provided suggestions for a more correct explaination of the haplogroups also suggested that I use the charts generated through the use of the "Y" utility tool, which is mentioned on our home page. I agree with Gil that the information is far more complete and have removed the old tables and replaced them with the new, more informative charts.

- Infinite allele mutation model is used
- Average mutation rate varies: 0.0031 to 0.0031
rates derived by Doug McDonald from the Sorenson database

Please visit our family website @ "Cavaliers & Cossacks". This site has just about everything possible in one genealogy site and welcomes contributions from those interested.

Have a website dedicated to Manley?Manly family research? Why not become a member of the Manley/Manly Family WebRing?

Understanding DNA testing.

A basic primer on DNA testing and genealogy

How many markers and where to test?

We strongly encourage project members to test for 25(+) markers, to generate more accurate results.

For those earliest members of our project, we would love to see those who can, upgrade to the 25(+)

FamilyTreedNA provides group discounts for testing through projects conducted through them.

They provide comparisons to other project members and others in their database, Haplogroup results, as well as "RECENT ETHNIC ORIGINS (REO) Database of genetic test results".

It is not required that all individuals participate through FamilyTreedNA, but those submitting results from other facilities (Such as DNAHeritage) will take longer to have their results included in the project and they will not have the "RECENT ETHNIC ORIGINS (REO) Database of genetic test results".
